There are several ways to recover vulcanised rubber from tyres but grinding is the most common and this can be carried out by either ambient processing or cryogenic processing. The grinding process used also affects the particle shape and surface structure which can alter it’s performance. The more expensive cryogenic process allows a very fine product to be produced. The Crumb Rubber process produces particles with a greater surface area to weight ratio which means that when it is dispersed in rubber or other polymers it has the ability to create better mechanical bonds.

Trident Fuels first step for Pyrolysis is the shredding of waste tyres or further optimization of shredded pieces / buff received via Waste Bureau. Depending on application it has different specifications. Currently Trident produces:

  • 10 mesh rubber crumb
  • 20 mesh rubber crumb
  • 40 mesh rubber crumb
  • Other mesh rubber crumb
  • Tyre Chips (5cm x 5cm)

The product can be used in roads, rubber tiles and various other applications.
